Civil partnership means that you are treated in the same way as a married couple for all tax purposes.
While this may make no immediate change, it does affect inheritance tax if one of you dies. You may be eligible for Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit. If you already get these, and you are living with a same-sex partner, you need to notify HM Revenue and Customs of that fact whether or not you get a civil partnership.
