Housing 11/07/2005
Civil partnership gives civil partners the same housing rights as married couples.
A civil partner, or a cohabiting same-sex partner, has an automatic right to succeed to the tenancy of your shared home if the sole tenant dies. A civil partner has a right to live in the shared home, even if it belongs to the other partner. It is impossible to cover all your housing rights here: Shelter Scotland has useful on-line information on a range of housing rights at www.shelter.org.uk.
